TOY's Youth Development Programs strive to empower and build self-esteem in young adults through workshops, seminars, and outreach programs. Our programs and projects are primarily for youth between the ages of 10 and 21. Certain programs are age and gender-based in order to focus on different areas and stages of life for each group of youths. We work in conjunction with schools, churches, businesses and civic organizations in creating future leaders. We work to equip youth with the necessary skills to make informed and intelligent decisions. We prepare them for lives of leadership and appreciation of community service.
Treasure Our Youth aims to support student success through:
Help youths understand the importance of navigating successfully in diverse environments and giving back to their communities.
The building blocks for a better life include Education, Community Impact, Health Awareness and Youth Mentoring. TOY works to build a strong foundation for young lives and community improvement for years to come using the following throughout our programs:
Local Initiatives: TOY brings together the people, businesses, and organizations that have the passion, resources and skills needed to develop our youths and progress as a community.
Community Collaborators: TOY will work with a variety of local community members and partners. From funding programs to working with local initiatives, TOY serves in a variety of ways to help increase the organized capacity of our community to care for its youth.
Leadership Training: While being a part of TOY, each youth will be challenged to exercise leadership skills. We will engage them in activities to help develop their abilities and increase confidence as a leader.
Mentorship/Counseling: Each TOY youth will be connected with a mentor or counselor based on interest and compatibility. All volunteer mentors will be equipped to challenge the children, teenagers, and young adults in their morals and values, in addition to providing encouragement and guidance.
Education: TOY will encourage our youths to stay in school with programs that reward them for learning. TOY will seek partnerships and financial support to provide a scholarship to those who will be pursuing higher education. We will also help educate our youths by providing programs and building clubs that have access to free computer labs, volunteer tutors, and lessons that coordinate to each program and project.
Seasonal Projects: We will dedicate time and effort to seasonal projects throughout the community. We firmly believe in serving the youth while also allowing them to serve their community through provisional missions. We will continue to seek opportunities to connect and establish relationships with similar projects around the country.
Life Skill Education: We plan to teach all TOY youths basic life skills including but not limited to:
